Chinese Crested Puppies
You might be surprised when you first see Chinese Crested puppies for sale. While they are classified as a “hairless” breed, they can actually be born with or with our fur. This can lead to quite a variety of looks in puppies out of the same litter. Along with their interesting looks, these dogs also have an interesting history. They got their name because they were used by Chinese sailors to hunt vermin aboard ships during their voyages.
As mentioned before, these dogs can come in two varieties: with and without fur. Many people mistake these two different looks for being two different breeds, but although they may look quite different from each other they are the same type of dog. The hairless trait comes from an incomplete dominant gene within the breed, so that is why litters of Chinese Crested puppies for sale can contain several of both types of the dog. Those who are “hairless” usually do have some hair on their bodies, but it is usually around their head, tail, and feet and it is a thin single coat. Those that do have hair, or Powder Puffs, have hair all over their bodies and it is a thicker double coat.
There is a definite difference in how you take care of each of the two types. The Powder Puffs require daily brushing because if their coats go uncared for, matting occurs. On the other hand, the hairless type needs a different grooming approach. Since they have hardly any hair, brushing is not as much of an issue, but taking good care of their skin is.
Chinese Crested puppies for sale that are hairless will need to have their skin properly taken care of throughout their lifetime. This can be done by rubbing oil or cream into their skin after bathing them and whenever else it is needed.
A Chinese Crested does make a great family dog and it is a very versatile pet for owners as well. Since it is a small dog, it is very well suited for apartment life because they do not require a yard. They are usually around 12 inches tall and weigh less than ten pounds. They are very playful and do like to socialize with people. They are extremely good with children as well, and with an average lifespan of 11 years, they will be a good family pet throughout your kid’s childhood.
